Yoshi-P Says Final Fantasy XIV Switch 2 Performance Is “Nothing to Be Concerned About”

Following the reveal of Final Fantasy XIV coming to Nintendo Switch 2 in August 2026, Naoki Yoshida addressed performance expectations during a press conference at the event. He confirmed that optimization work is ongoing, with some hardware limitations still being addressed.
“I want to be honest with you, we are working really hard on the optimisation,”
“We are striving to get the best performance.”
Yoshida noted that performance will vary depending on location, with more demanding conditions expected in densely populated areas.
“I think with the towns, you may see a lower framerate, only because there are so many players that are rendered on the screen.”
He added that core gameplay content is expected to remain stable, with a target of consistent performance in instanced activities.
“We are still able to reach 30 frames per second in a stable state, and so, considering Duty content, I think the performance is something that you don’t have to be concerned about.”
The Switch 2 version will support both docked and handheld play, along with additional input options such as mouse support. Yoshida highlighted the flexibility of the platform and how it allows different playstyles.
“The Nintendo Switch 2 is a wonderful console, and I think you can choose the way you want to play.”
“You are more free to choose which mode to play in, so I hope that players will find the way to play that is most suited for themselves.”
