Summons No Longer Acquired Solely via VR Simulator in FFVII Revelation, Knights of the Round Tied to Gilgamesh’s Storyline

In an interview with One More Game during Gamescom Asia x Thailand Game Show 2026, Naoki Hamaguchi shared an additional detail about how summons will be incorporated into Final Fantasy VII Revelation, including Knights of the Round.
Unlike Rebirth, where Chadley’s VR simulator played a major role in obtaining summons, Revelation will feature summon-related content directly in the world. Players will be able to collect materials associated with summons through exploration, bringing the system closer to the approach of the original Final Fantasy VII.

While Hamaguchi previously revealed that “In Revelation there will be a specific storyline that follows in a similar vein to the Protorelic quest,” he has now confirmed that Knights of the Round is directly tied to Gilgamesh’s original storyline.
“And for Knights of the Round, we have the original story for Gilgamesh, and you can get the summon material on that.”
