Square Enix Q1 FY2027 Results: Strong Start as HD Games, MMO and Mobile Drive Higher Profitability

Square Enix has released its financial results for the three-month period ended June 30, 2026.
In the Digital Entertainment segment, both net sales and operating income increased, with higher sales across the HD Games, MMO, and Games for Smart Devices/PC Browser sub-segments.
HD Games recorded net sales of ¥17.7 billion and operating income of ¥6.1 billion. This was mainly driven by the solid performance of new titles including “FINAL FANTASY VII REBIRTH” and “The Adventures of Elliot: The Millennium Tales,” along with higher sales of catalog titles.
The MMO sub-segment, which is mainly driven by Final Fantasy XIV, recorded net sales of ¥12.7 billion and operating income of ¥3.6 billion. Sales increased thanks to improved player activity following the announcement of the latest Final Fantasy XIV expansion.
Games for Smart Devices and PC Browser also saw higher net sales and operating income compared to the previous year, mainly thanks to “DISSIDIA DUELUM FINAL FANTASY” and “DRAGON QUEST Smash/Grow.”
Total units sold (packaged + downloads) across HD and MMO titles increased from 4.01 million to 7.38 million units.
Merchandising also saw higher net sales and operating income, helped by stronger sales of new character merchandise based on major IPs.
