A modified Nintendo Switch Lite system has been shown running Final Fantasy VII Remake. The setup was created by modder Naga, who built a custom system he calls the Switch Lite “Pro”. The device features several significant hardware upgrades, including 8GB of RAM (up from the stock 4GB), 256GB eMMC storage (up from the default 32GB), and a Super5 OLED display.
Naga is running the PC version of Final Fantasy VII Remake through the Box64 + Wine translation layer. Under these conditions, the game achieves performance in the 20 to 30 fps range. While it does not match native platform performance, the result remains playable despite the extra overhead introduced by the translation setup.
The demonstration showvases the noticeable impact of the increased RAM on performance and shows what types of games are still possible on the Switch Lite’s dated hardware.
