Final Fantasy IX Tops Japan’s PS4 Download Chart in July 2025

PlayStation Blog has released the July 2025 PlayStation Store download rankings, and several Final Fantasy titles made it into the top 10 on PlayStation 4 in Japan.

Final Fantasy IX was the most downloaded PS4 game in Japan for July, coinciding with the 25th anniversary of its original Japanese release on July 7, 2000. The game was not on the June 2025 chart but rose to number one in July. Japan’s PS4 top three for the month were Final Fantasy IX, Dragon Quest XI S, and Monster Hunter: World.

Other Final Fantasy games also ranked on PS4 in Japan, with Final Fantasy X/X-2 HD Remaster in fifth place and Final Fantasy VIII Remastered in ninth. No Final Fantasy titles made it into the top 20 for PS5 in Japan or the USA and Canada.

The PS4 top three in the USA and Canada for July were Red Dead Redemption 2, STAR WARS Battlefront II, and Batman: Arkham Knight.
