With patch 7.25, Final Fantasy XIV reintroduces large-scale exploration content through the Occult Crescent, the first field operation since Bozja in 2020. This new instanced zone is unlocked via the quest “One Last Hurrah” in Tuliyollal after completing the main scenario quest “The Phantom Village.” It requires a level 100 Disciple of War or Magic and item level 690 or higher.
Players will progress through two systems: Knowledge Level, which affects combat performance, and Phantom Jobs, a set of unlockable roles like chemist, ranger, and monk that offer unique actions and passive bonuses. Phantom Jobs are acquired through quests or Soul Shards, and mastering them grants Phantom Mastery, which provides persistent benefits even when switching jobs. The zone also includes large-scale events, dynamic encounters, and a 48-player raid, The Forked Tower: Blood, accessible at Knowledge Level 20.
The Occult Crescent includes bonus EXP systems, resurrection limitations in high-end content, and various collectible currencies. Players can freely form and adjust parties within the zone. Full details, including FATEs, treasure mechanics, and advanced party balancing, are available in the official release notes on The Lodestone.
