Roundup: Final Fantasy XIV Fan Festival 2026 Berlin Keynote

Square Enix revealed extensive new details about Final Fantasy XIV: Evercold during the latest Fan Festival keynote in Berlin. The presentation covered the expansion's setting, the new Bastion job, upcoming battle and progression changes, the Final Fantasy VII Remake collaboration Beyond the Lifestream, the Nintendo Switch 2 version, and more.
An extended version of the Evercold teaser trailer was shown in the beginning of the keynote, offering a broader look at The Fourth and the Realmships that serve as homes for its people.
The first of Evercold's two new jobs is Bastion, a main tank that uses the transforming Skyltborg as its weapon. The second new job, a physical ranged DPS, will be revealed at the Tokyo Fan Festival later this year.
The keynote also showcased three of the major locations players will visit in The Fourth. Fargarth is a new city located aboard Naglfar, the Realmship of Water, while Hringhorni is the Realmship of Fire, featuring foundries and rivers of molten metal.
Evercold will introduce Seasons, a redesigned reward and item-level progression system, alongside two battle modes: Reborn and Evolved. The Armoury System, character customization, and action animations will also be expanded, while the main scenario will allow players to choose the order of certain areas and Auto Content Balancing will adjust content for different player progression levels.
Beyond the Lifestream is a new three-tier raid series created through a collaboration between the Final Fantasy XIV and Final Fantasy VII Remake teams. The first tier will arrive in Patch 8.01 shortly after Evercold launches.
The Nintendo Switch 2 version of Final Fantasy XIV will launch on August 4, 2026, and will include a one-month free trial.
Square Enix also revealed the Final Fantasy XIV: Evercold Collector's Bundle, which includes both physical items and digital in-game items:

- Ethos Metal Keychain
- Köttr Mini Plush
- Tapestry of the Fourth
- A special Art Box featuring artwork by Yoshitaka Amano
The digital items are:
- Valhallar Odin Mount
- Entreat Crystal Emote
- Crystal Skyltborg
