Square Enix Takes Legal Action in New Final Fantasy XIV Harassment Case

Square Enix has announced that it has taken legal action against a video content creator over harassment aimed at executives and staff involved with Final Fantasy XIV. According to the official statement, the videos were posted on a video-sharing platform and included content that damaged the social standing of its employees.
Square Enix identified the individual after obtaining a court-approved disclosure of sender information from the platform. After direct contact, both parties reached an amicable settlement. The creator issued an apology, paid an undisclosed sum as compensation, and agreed not to engage in similar actions in the future. The videos and the related account had already been removed by the time of the announcement.
Square Enix said that actions such as defamation, intimidation, and harassment toward employees are a serious issue that can affect workplace safety. The company also reiterated that it will continue taking legal action in similar cases under its Group Customer Harassment Policy.
This case follows a similar incident in March 2026 involving a Final Fantasy XIV-related news aggregator blog. In that case, the operator also posted content that damaged the social standing of employees. Square Enix took legal steps to identify the individual through the hosting provider, which led to a settlement that included a public apology, site closure, and a financial payment.
