In a recent interview with Easy Allies, Naoki Yoshida expressed interest in bringing Final Fantasy XIV to the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2 console. Yoshida stated that his "dream" and "goal" for over ten years has been to make Final Fantasy XIV playable on as many devices as possible.
"My dream, or goal, for more than ten years at this points is for players to be able to play Final Fantasy XIV regardless of device, and be able to access the servers to go in and access the same world."
Yoshida emphasized the ongoing efforts to expand the game's availability. After years of discussions, Final Fantasy XIV finally made its way to the Xbox platform.
"We’ve been talking for years to bring the game on the Xbox platform, and so of course we would love to have our title available on the Nintendo platform, and we do want to continue our efforts."

The possibility of a Switch 2 release remains open, though there are no firm commitments yet. Yoshida acknowledged the time and effort involved in such projects.
"It did take a lot of time – with Xbox, we literally have talked for years, and it is now finally coming to fruition. We will try our best and continue to work hard at it and continue our efforts."
The anticipated Nintendo Switch 2, though not officially announced, has generated much excitement and speculation within the gaming community. Bringing Final Fantasy XIV to this new console could significantly expand its reach and player base. For Nintendo fans, Yoshida's remarks provide hope that Final Fantasy XIV may eventually arrive on this upcoming platform.
"Eventually, it would be cool – something that we would love to sort of explore and make a reality one day."
