Magic: The Gathering x Final Fantasy Panel and Play Events Confirmed for MagicCon

Magic: The Gathering x Final Fantasy will be prominently featured at MagicCon: Las Vegas, taking place from June 20–22, 2025. The event will feature exclusive merchandise, themed play events, immersive experiences, and a high-stakes Pro Tour tournament.

One of the key attractions will be the panel “The Making of Magic: The Gathering—Final Fantasy,” where designers from Wizards of the Coast will share insights into how they blended elements from sixteen Final Fantasy games into the Magic universe. The panel will be hosted by Ben Starr, the voice of Clive Rosfield from Final Fantasy XVI, and include Zakeel Gordon, Gavin Verhey, Dillon Deveney, Daniel Holt, and Stephanie Cheung from the design team.

All attendees will receive a promo version of Yoshimaru, Ever Faithful, rebranded as Torgal, Clive’s Companion from Final Fantasy XVI. The venue will also feature recreations of iconic Final Fantasy environments, including Midgar from Final Fantasy VII.

MagicCon will host the Pro Tour Magic: The Gathering x Final Fantasy, featuring over 300 players and a $500,000 prize pool. The tournament will use Booster Draft and Standard Constructed formats based on the Final Fantasy set. It will serve as a qualifier for both Pro Tour Edge of Eternities and Magic World Championship 31. The event will be livestreamed on Twitch, with match replays available later on YouTube.

MagicCon will also host additional ticketed play events, including a Two-Headed Giant Sealed event, a Final Fantasy-themed Commander Party, and a Pro Tour Qualifier. Game Knights Live will return on Friday, featuring at least one deck built with cards from the Final Fantasy set.

Attendees can visit the Square Enix booth for official Final Fantasy merchandise, including plushies, figures, and advance-sale card sleeves featuring official artwork before their retail release.
