Wizards of the Coast has announced Magic Spotlight: FINAL FANTASY, a three-day event taking place from June 27 to 29 in Chiba, Japan. Part of the Magic Spotlight Series, the event is being organized in partnership with BIG MAGIC to highlight the connection between Magic: The Gathering and the Final Fantasy series.
General entry is free, but space may be limited due to venue capacity. The official event website launches on April 16, with registration for the main event opening on April 17 at noon JST.
The main event is a two-day open Standard Constructed tournament with a $50,000 USD prize pool. Paid registration is required, and space is limited. All registered players will receive a non-foil, Japanese-language borderless promo card from the upcoming Magic: The Gathering x Final Fantasy set. The top 128 players will also receive a traditional foil version of the same card. The card will be revealed at a later date. In addition, the top 8 players will qualify for Pro Tour Edge of Eternities at MagicCon: Atlanta.
Side events in various formats, including Limited and Commander, will be held throughout the weekend. More Final Fantasy-themed promo cards will be announced after the set’s official debut.
