#gamesifinished2025

As a year-end tradition, I share a list of all the games I managed to finish. This year, the total is 13. I originally aimed for 24, so I ended up well below my personal goal. Some games were much longer than expected, and a few were honestly hard to push through, which made staying motivated difficult.

I also played more games digitally than usual, mostly on Steam Deck. Many titles had no physical PlayStation release. Spike Chunsoft has been especially frustrating, with Switch and PC releases first and PlayStation and Xbox versions coming later. Since I really dislike Switch performance, I usually choose Steam Deck, or stream from my PS5 if I want trophies.

My only day-one purchases this year (not counting Final Fantasy) were Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 and Lost Soul Aside. In terms of quality, they were very far apart. The only other 2025 release I played was The Hundred Line: Last Defense Academy. The story was interesting, but the gameplay felt boring and repetitive.

Game finish timeline:

• January: Castlevania Order of Ecclesia, Inescapable

• February: Final Fantasy I

• March: Warriors Abyss, Dirge of Cerberus

• April: It Takes Two, Ace Attorney

• June: Clair Obscur: Expedition 33

• August: Dissidia 012 Final Fantasy, The Hundred Line: Last Defense Academy

• November: Lost Soul Aside, Ever 17: The Out of Infinity

• December: Resident Evil Village

My biggest highlights were Clair Obscur and Ever 17, both completed at 100%. The biggest disappointment was Inescapable, which was painful to play.

We finished three games on stream: Clair Obscur, Dirge of Cerberus, and Dissidia 012 Final Fantasy. Next up is Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles Remastered, which I am currently streaming.

I also almost reached 2000 hours in Final Fantasy VII Ever Crisis. 🙃

Next year, I will aim for 24 games again: one regular game and one visual novel per month. So far, my only day-one purchases for 2026 are Code Vein 2 and Tides of Annihilation.
