Final Fantasy XIV Items Now Offered as Tax Donation Rewards in Japan

Square Enix has added Final Fantasy XIV optional items to Shibuya Ward’s Furusato Nozei tax donation program in Japan. The campaign launched on June 1, 2026 and was publicly announced on June 16.
What is Furusato Nozei?
Furusato Nozei is a Japanese tax donation system where residents can choose a municipality to support by donating a portion of their income tax. In simple terms, taxpayers pay a donation upfront, which is later deducted from their income and residence taxes. Because of this, the real out-of-pocket cost is usually a flat 2,000 yen, provided they stay within their personal tax limit.
In return for their contributions, municipalities offer "thank you" gifts.
In this case, donating to Shibuya Ward through the system lets players receive Final Fantasy XIV item codes. These codes are then redeemed on Mog Station and unlock the following in game cosmetic items:
Fantasia x5 set - Requires a ¥17,000 donation
Megashiba mount - Requires a ¥9,000 donation
Dance Emote Set (4 emotes) - Requires a ¥11,000 donation
Collegiate Attire (Slacks) costume set - Requires a ¥7,000 donation
Collegiate Attire (Skirt) costume set - Requires a ¥7,000 donation
Magitek costume set - Requires a ¥7,000 donation
These are all purely cosmetic items that players can normally buy with real money on the Final Fantasy XIV Online Store. While the individual tax donation tiers vary, purchasing this entire lineup directly from the cash shop would normally cost an estimated value of at least $88 USD / €76.
