Final Fantasy VII Revelation: Link to Advent Children Remains Unclear, Bone Village Not Included

In a new interview with RPG Site, Naoki Hamaguchi addressed some of the most anticipated questions about the Final Fantasy VII Remake trilogy’s conclusion.

When asked whether the project will still link to Advent Children as Tetsuya Nomura suggested in 2023, Hamaguchi stayed deliberately vague:

“I don’t believe we’ve publicly claimed or stated it’s going to be exactly that, so I’d like for players to play Revelation and see for themselves, what the conclusion of the journey holds, and see about that.”

This leaves the exact nature of the connection open to interpretation until the game’s release.

On the world map side, Hamaguchi confirmed that not every location from the original Final Fantasy VII will return. Specifically:

“Bone Village itself is not included, but North Wood and the Temple of the Ancients, we’ll be able to revisit.”

One of the bigger takeaways is that Revelation will lean heavily into the Final Fantasy VII Compilation spin-offs. Hamaguchi said the team is actively pulling material from those earlier stories to deepen character arcs:

“We can’t delve too much into the storyline just yet, but thinking of spinoffs you mentioned, like Dirge, our overall concept for Revelation is to pick up from those stories as well. So with characters like Vincent and Zack, those are explored. We can’t say just how much yet, but…..”

He also pointed to expanded roles for the Turks and bigger revelations involving Rufus, including his ties to Glenn and other Compilation elements, suggesting players will get a much clearer picture of the wider world and its characters by the end of Revelation.
