Naoki Hamaguchi discussed how iconic Final Fantasy VII elements are handled in the remake trilogy during an interview with ntower, focusing on Knights of the Round and Sephiroth’s Supernova.
Both are among the most recognizable elements of Final Fantasy VII. Their original versions are known for long animation sequences that helped define their identity in the original game. The discussion focused on how these moments may be handled in the remake trilogy in relation to modern gameplay pacing.
“There are many elements that symbolize Final Fantasy VII, and I definitely think Knights of the Round and Sephiroth’s Supernova effects are among the most iconic. However, I cannot go into details at this time about how these elements are handled in the trilogy or what decisions were made. I believe all of these are matters that require very careful consideration, especially when aligning them with the modern gameplay experience.”
“That said, not only as a developer but also as someone who played the original, I am personally very curious about how these iconic moments are being recreated for today’s audience.”
“I would be very happy if you play the game yourself and see with your own eyes what results we have arrived at.”
