Final Fantasy XIV Nintendo Switch 2 Free Period Ends September 7

Square Enix has announced that the current free subscription period for Final Fantasy XIV on Nintendo Switch 2 will end on September 7 at 11:59 p.m. in each region. Starting September 8, players who register the Starter Edition or Complete Edition will get the included 30-day free play period before needing a subscription.
Players who already have an active FFXIV subscription on another platform can get the Nintendo Switch 2 subscription at half price through the Nintendo Switch 2 Subscription Discount. If they set up their subscription before the free period ends, the fee will automatically be deducted from their FFXIV Coins balance once the free period expires. The discount will apply as long as they still have game time remaining on another platform.
Subscriptions for the Nintendo Switch 2 version must be paid with FFXIV Coins. There is currently an issue preventing the launcher from opening the FFXIV Coins purchase screen in the Nintendo eShop, but Square Enix plans to fix this with Patch 7.56 on September 8. Until then, coins can be purchased through the Nintendo Switch 2 HOME menu under Final Fantasy XIV → Software Information → Nintendo eShop → In-Game Items.
Square Enix also pointed out again that Nintendo Switch Online is not required to play FFXIV. However, members do get one additional aetheryte destination that can be used for free teleportation on the Nintendo Switch 2 version.
