Square Enix has announced that the Japanese version of Final Fantasy XIV will have its CERO rating raised from CERO C (15+) to CERO D (17+), effective April 28, 2026, with the release of Patch 7.5: Trail to the Heavens.
Square Enix stated that the change is necessary to avoid imposing restrictions on the game’s Group Pose feature and preserve its current level of freedom.
"Under the current 'CERO C' rating, it would be necessary to impose restrictions on the Group Pose feature. Therefore, in order to maintain the creative freedom of Group Pose and avoid such limitations, we have decided to change the age rating to 'CERO D.' This is strictly a change to the rating classification; there are no changes to the game content, Terms of Service, or service fees. However, we ask that customers under the age of 17 review this change with a parent or guardian before continuing to use the service."
