Square Enix announced Final Fantasy VII Revelation during Summer Game Fest Live. The game will launch in Spring 2027 simultaneously across PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch 2, Xbox Series X|S, and PC, marking the conclusion of the Remake project during the 30th anniversary year of the original Final Fantasy VII.
The announcement was accompanied by a reveal trailer and an extended gameplay presentation featuring Hamaguchi and Vincent Valentine voice actor Matt Mercer.
The reveal trailer confirmed that players will be able to freely explore the entire planet using the Highwind. Players can travel across the world from the airship and parachute directly to locations below with seamless transitions between aerial and ground exploration. The game's structure allows players to decide where to travel, which conflicts to address, and the order in which events unfold. Decisions made throughout the journey can affect aspects of individual character stories.
Combat continues the hybrid system introduced in previous entries, allowing players to switch between real-time action and Tactical Mode. Square Enix stated that the system has been expanded further with additional abilities and new playable characters.
The gameplay presentation confirmed Vincent Valentine and Cid Highwind as playable party members. Vincent utilizes rapid gun-based combat and beast transformations, while Cid focuses on lance attacks, gap-closing abilities, and area damage techniques.
Several major locations were shown during the gameplay demonstration, including the Mideel Archipelago, Wutai, and the Northern Continent.

A new progression feature called the FITS system was also introduced. Players can equip outfits that grant new combat styles and movesets inspired by classic Final Fantasy jobs, including Black Mage and Warrior.

Square Enix also confirmed save data bonuses for players of previous entries. Remake Intergrade save data unlocks the Chocobo & Moogle Summon Materia, while Rebirth save data unlocks the Phoenix Summon Materia.
