Final Fantasy IX Vivi Hat: Nice Collectible, But Is It Worth the Price?

I couldn’t wait to share this one. I’ve been looking forward to adding this item to my collection, and the moment it arrived I had to post about it. Special thanks to my little Tonberry for “volunteering” as a model for the photo 😅

This was probably one of the most talked-about items from the Final Fantasy IX 25th Anniversary lineup: Vivi’s hat. The hat is about 36 cm high, has a diameter of 45 cm, and the head opening is around 20 cm. Honestly, I expected it to feel stiffer and maybe even leathery, but instead it’s soft—more like a pillow.

Price-wise, I paid 150€ including shipping and taxes, compared to the 199.99€ plus 10€ shipping on the official Square Enix Store EU. On top of that, I got it now instead of waiting until January 2026.

But here’s the tricky part: can I recommend it? The hat looks nice, but the price feels really high for what it is. The quality is fine, but not detailed enough to fully justify the cost. On top of that, AmiAmi shipped it separately and wouldn’t let me combine it with my other September items. I thought maybe it was because of the size, but when it arrived the box was mostly paper filler and the hat itself was still folded. So the extra shipping cost feels really unnecessary.
