Board Game - Moogle Bounty Mayhem: Something Especially for Final Fantasy XII Fans

Square Enix board games often fly under the radar, but for some reason, this one has been popping up in articles all over, even in multiple languages. I’m not sure why it’s getting so much attention, but I actually got my copy two weeks ago, so here we are.

Moogle Bounty Mayhem is the latest tabletop release from designer Seiji Kanai (best known for the award-winning card game Love Letter), with art by Final Fantasy XII artist Ryoma Ito. It’s a fast-paced 15-minute card battle for 2–4 players where six Moogle siblings face off against dangerous monsters to earn victory points and bragging rights. 😅

Each round brings different Moogles, monsters, and abilities, so no two games feel the same. It’s quick to learn but offers plenty of surprises, rewarding both strategy and bluffing. While fun for any board game fan, it should be especially appealing to Final Fantasy XII fans.

The game is sold region-specifically. I received the German version from the German Square Enix Store. If you’re curious, Square Enix has the rulebook available for free as a PDF in multiple languages, and there’s also a short comic that explains the rules, which I’ve included in this post.

That said, the price is definitely steep: €44.99 / $50.99 for the following:

Since Square Enix board games often get big discounts later, it might be worth waiting for a sale.
