Amano’s Original Dark Fantasy Project ZAN Gets Anime Adaptation, AMANO Exhibition Expands Globally Starting 2027

ZAN, a new anime project based on Yoshitaka Amano’s original dark fantasy universe, has officially entered production.

The series is based on the DEVA ZAN world, first introduced in 2010 and later expanded through more than 300 original artworks by Amano. The setting gained wider international exposure with a 2013 Dark Horse Comics art book.

The anime is being developed as a hand drawn adaptation that blends Amano’s existing and newly created artwork. It’s described as a dark fantasy epic that crosses time and space, featuring dynamic action sequences, sword battles, and striking hero designs.

The first trailer will debut at Anime Expo in Los Angeles on July 3.

Alongside the series, Yoshitaka Amano Inc. has officially launched in Los Angeles, with plans to expand his work into global animation, licensing, and exhibition projects.

The AMANO art & entertainment experience is also expanding internationally, with major installations planned across the United States, Europe, China, Southeast Asia, and Japan starting in 2027. The immersive format will combine gallery exhibitions, interactive installations, collectibles, café elements, and exclusive merchandise into a single large scale destination.
