Tactics Advance Remasters and Sequels Possible if The Ivalice Chronicles Performs Well

ree

In a previous June interview, the director of Final Fantasy Tactics: The Ivalice Chronicles, Kazutoyo Maehiro, commented regarding future Final Fantasy Tactics games:

"While we cannot make any promises about the future, if this title is successful, it will not only demonstrate that there’s interest from gamers, but also the viability [of tactical games] as a business. Such success will surely pave the way for the release of new tactics titles that follow The Ivalice Chronicles. We sincerely hope that this happens."

Maehiro has now reiterated and expanded on that point in a new interview with Inverse. He stated that the future of the Tactics series depends on how well the remake performs, with strong sales potentially paving the way for remasters of Final Fantasy Tactics Advance and A2, as well as sequels and new entries.

“If The Ivalice Chronicles can do well, that’s good for the fans, they can enjoy it. But, at the same time, it shows the business viability of the strategy RPG genre. So that could potentially open the door for doing something with Final Fantasy Tactics Advance or A2, or maybe even sequels and new titles as well.”
“I think I speak for everyone who’s worked on the original Final Fantasy Tactics, and is working on The Ivalice Chronicles as well — we’d really like to see that happen.”
