Pre-Order: Ascend The Shinra Tower: Final Fantasy VII Board Game

Square Enix has announced Ascend The Shinra Tower: Final Fantasy VII Board Game, a new cooperative board game scheduled for release on November 6, 2026 in Japan, priced at ¥4,400.

The game adapts the Shinra Building into a balance-based cooperative board game. Players stack floor tiles on top of wall structures to climb upward, while the structure gradually tilts and becomes more unstable. Progress requires coordination between players to keep balance and avoid collapse.

The objective is to reach the eighth floor without causing the structure to fall. Enemy encounters appear during gameplay and must be handled cooperatively while keeping the structure stable. The game is cleared if players successfully guide Cloud to the top.

The game supports one to five players and has an average playtime of 15 to 30 minutes. It includes 20 floor tiles, 54 wall pieces, 24 action cards, and 24 wooden tokens. Rulebooks are provided in Japanese, English, French, and German.

Characters such as Cloud, Tifa, and Aerith appear as wooden pieces alongside enemy figures. The package design and character artwork are supervised by Tetsuya Nomura.

While the release is currently limited to Japan, the inclusion of multilingual rulebooks makes the Japanese version playable for everyone by purchasing it through well known import sellers. The multilingual rulebook also indicates that a worldwide release is planned.
