Naoki Hamaguchi: Final Fantasy Support on Switch 2 Will Not End With FFVII Trilogy

ree

Naoki Hamaguchi confirmed that development of Final Fantasy VII Remake Part 3 is continuing on schedule despite the multiplatform releases for Switch 2 and Xbox. Teams split responsibilities or worked concurrently on the ports to ensure the overall timeline was not affected.

“ For this, we didn’t adjust the schedule or development timeline for Part 3 to work on the multiplatform releases. Some teams moved to work on the ports, and some people worked concurrently. In that sense, there hasn’t been any impact on Part 3’s development timeline.”

Hamaguchi also highlighted Switch 2 as a long-term platform for Final Fantasy and emphasized the symbolic importance of bringing the series back to Nintendo hardware:

“ With the release of the Switch 2, I feel a great sense of fate with this. Specifically, this is the first mainline Final Fantasy to come out on a Nintendo console.”
“ This is certainly not the end—not just for the Final Fantasy VII series. We want the Final Fantasy franchise to continue being loved by players around the world, and we will keep working to support that.”
“ I think it shouldn’t stop at VII. I want this for the future of all Final Fantasy. In some ways, this is a new start. We’re opening the series to all platforms to bring in as many new players as possible and start their journey with Final Fantasy. I see this as a fresh beginning, and perhaps the most significant step forward.”
