Final Fantasy XI March Update Adds New Alter Ego Upgrades to Better Support Solo Players

Square Enix released the March 2026 version update for Final Fantasy XI Online. The update introduces the first phase of a new Alter Ego Upgrade System as part of the Trust magic system renewal. The change is intended to support solo players by allowing them to strengthen their alter egos and experience a wider variety of content on their own.
From March 21, Vana'Bout returns, allowing players to participate solo or with other adventurers in a large scale Records of Eminence objective. Players can earn rewards by completing the objective, and additional bonus campaigns may be triggered if the community exceeds the target goal.
Ambuscade has also been updated, with Velkks and Treants returning as the monthly foes.
The March Login Campaign runs from March 11 at 1 a.m. PDT to April 5 at 7:59 a.m. PDT. During this period, players can earn points and exchange them for in-game items.
The Treasure Hunter Bounty Campaign returns on March 13. During the campaign, players have an increased chance of improving their chocobo digging skill, content becomes easier to play, and rewards are increased. The campaign runs in two phases from March 13 to March 22 and from March 27 to April 5.
