Final Fantasy VII Remake Part 3 Will Expand Queen’s Blood and Rework Snowboarding

Naoki Hamaguchi has shared new details on the third installment of the Final Fantasy VII Remake trilogy in an interview with Polygon. The discussion confirmed that minigames will remain a core part of the project, with several returning elements receiving notable updates.

One major confirmation is the return of Queen’s Blood. The card-based minigame introduced in Final Fantasy VII Rebirth will appear again in Part 3, but it will not be a simple carryover. The development team is treating it as a system to build upon rather than preserve unchanged, with plans to enhance its mechanics and scope.

“Queen’s Blood is a very popular and beloved minigame, and I believe a lot of people are still wanting something like that. I want to expand on Queen’s Blood so that we are enhancing it, and giving you a more powered-up version of it when you see that third installment… Queen’s Blood is still going to be available in the third installment. We just want to expand on it.”

Hamaguchi also addressed another fan-favorite feature from the original game: the snowboarding sequence that takes place after the events covered in Rebirth. He indicated that this section is being approached as more than a standalone activity and will be designed to connect more directly with the narrative and themes of the third installment.

“Snowboarding! This is something that fans have really deep memories about! I’m afraid I can’t delve too much into the details, but we understand that it’s not going to be just a simple snowboarding minigame. We want to make sure that it’s incorporated into the story to have that sort of connection with the theming of it.”

Beyond individual features, Hamaguchi provided a brief update on the overall development status of the project. According to him, work on the third installment is progressing steadily and remains aligned with internal schedules and milestones. While the game is already playable from a technical standpoint, the team is currently focused on refinement and polish.

“In terms of the third installment, I believe we are coming along very smoothly. We have set a schedule for ourselves, and I believe we are tracking on time for the milestones we have set. So I’m really thankful for the development team and I have so much respect for them working on this project. I believe that at this point the game is playable, technically, but we are still trying to polish it so it is at a quality where we can deliver it to our players.”
