Final Fantasy Tactics: The Ivalice Chronicles to Feature Previously Japan-Exclusive Sound Novels

Square Enix announced on the official Japanese website that Final Fantasy Tactics – The Ivalice Chronicles will, for the first time, include the sound novels with full localization. The feature will be available across all versions of the game.
The sound novels were originally minigames in the Japanese PlayStation release of Final Fantasy Tactics. They are unlocked by collecting specific artefacts in the Chronicle section and present four branching stories tied to elemental themes. Their format resembles Choose Your Own Adventure books, offering interactive storytelling separate from the main scenario while expanding the lore of Ivalice.
These novels never appeared in any English release due to time and budget limitations. They were also absent from Final Fantasy Tactics: The War of the Lions on PSP, where the books remained but the minigames themselves were cut.
With The Ivalice Chronicles, the sound novels are now officially restored. Players will be able to obtain them in the Brave Story collection when acquiring books through money-making activities. This marks the first time the complete set of novels will be officially accessible in languages other than Japanese.
