Final Fantasy Brave Exvius Marks 10th Anniversary with Service Conclusion in Japan

Square Enix has announced that Final Fantasy Brave Exvius will end service in Japan on October 31, 2025, at 12:00 JST, marking the title’s 10th anniversary. Following the announcement, sales of the in-game currency Lapis have already been halted.
Producer Yusuke Suda explained the reason behind the shutdown in the official operations letter:
“Due to the constraints of a system built more than 10 years ago, maintenance and modifications gradually became difficult, and it became hard to smoothly introduce new initiatives.”
Leading up to the shutdown, the game will conclude its main storyline with the final chapter of the 5th Season and the epilogue scenario “Journey of Inheritance.” A special “Grand Finale Campaign” is also scheduled to begin on September 1, 2025 after maintenance and will run until the end of service.
On the day of the shutdown, Square Enix will release a Memorial Version App for iOS and Android. This version will allow players to view the complete main story and selected encyclopedia entries after the live service has ended. Since this announcement only concerns the Japanese version of FFBE, the Memorial App is expected to be available in Japanese only, with no indication of an English release. If this should change in the future, I will let everyone know.
To commemorate the 10 years of FFBE, Square Enix will also release official merchandise on October 31, 2025. Items include T-shirts featuring pixel art of the game’s units and acrylic keychains inspired by Vision Cards. These will be available through the Square Enix e-STORE.
The official FFBE account issued a final message of gratitude to its players:
“We sincerely thank all players who have supported Final Fantasy Brave Exvius over the years.”
The Japanese service ends one year after the closure of the global version, which concluded on October 30, 2024. At that time, the development team released the following statement:
“We've strived to provide an incredible and enjoyable gaming experience for our players every day that could exceed the day before. However, we've come to the conclusion that it would be difficult to continue maintaining the app experience, and to therefore end the app service.”
